Upbeat day

I had quite an up beat day. The only bad thing that happened is my MP3 player refuses to start. The play button is stuck. I dun have on of them microscopic screw drivers to rectify that prob. No worries, I have an Walkman phone now plus i dun really listen to music on the player that often anyway.

Best thing that happened today, other than calling up a few friends in the UK is i found the perfect magazine. Perfect at this point and time. It's called Personal Money and it's Malaysia's Premier Personal Finance Magazine. I like the articles and issues they cover as it's very relavent to my current situation - in financial limbo. I think they should teach personal finance at school. There's alot to be learned. At the end of the day, it's not the academically smart people that succeed in life, oh no... it's the financially smart that make it. On person at work told me and i guess he quoted it from some book he read - It's not how much money you earn that matters, it's how much money you have working for you that matters.... it kinda makes sense when you think about it.

Oh well, spirits are high. I just re-arranged my desk area in my room now that I got rid of my ginormous 21 in CRT computer monitor. I now have a sexy 20 inch wide screen flat screen TFT LCD monitor. Using an LCD liberates ALOT of space!! Next little project is painting that wall behind it!! I removed the big Porsche poster i had on it and it has exposed a lot of blemishes on the wall. Plus there're a few holes i drilled and the wall's cracked a bit. I i think my weekend project will be filling the cracks and holes in that wall and re painting it. Now lets bring out all my DIY decorating books!! hehehe looks like someone's gonna be a tad distracted at work tomorrow!!

the quote... could it be from "rich dad poor dad" book? the popular money-managing best seller? hehe... just sounds familiar... maybe you'd want to read that book too... Mon 19-Jun-2006 21:21

Funny, sounds like the TV show "24" ... It's finally sunk in that I'm already a quarter of a century old. Geez.... It's really depressing thinking back to all the stupid things I did, things I should've done, things didn't do, opportunities not taken and decisions made that has shaped me into the person I am today. Am I happy with how i've turned out? I guess I'm not over the moon but I doubt many people are. What happens next? I don't know... gosh I don't even know what I want to do next. It seems that I'm living out everyday waiting for the next big thing to happen. The last one was the UK/USA trip. I guess the next is the up coming week and a half developing solutions with MS Excel & VBA training. It's worrying... i get these bouts of insecureness more often these days. I feel under achieved and unsure.... Pris would call this Male PMS, hehehe I'd call it a mid-life crisis... your pick.

yeah man, it's a downward spiral from now on! But having said that, I am an eternal fatalist + pessimist.
Happy days. Thanks for the credit tho.

u sure u r in ur mid-life period already? does that mean ur life span is only 50 years?? hahaa Sun 11-Jun-2006 14:03
Posted by:Alia
Hopefully not 50 years lah kan... Well my thinking is everyone gets 1 midlife crisis each... and it's not a fixed thing when it happens... like how u girls get your first period... some get it earlier than others.. hehehe Mon 12-Jun-2006 15:05

Hmm... not many photos from this one. My camera's still broken... But here's what little photos i took with my phone....

a'kum...

gosh.. reading your entries is like watching the Desperate Housewives DVDs where you juz cant stop but to continue to watch (in your case, to read) from the very beginning till the very end.. since i juz came back from a bowling tourney at a very remote golf club errmmm... got home at 2am... tired of driving.. yada.. yada.. too much caffeine.. yada.. yada.. cannot sleep.. yada.. yada... browsed thru the net and like the others, stumbled into your ermmmm suppossedly fotopages cum blog... to be frank, i actually read from the 1st entry right up till this one.. took me some time as i had to wait for the pictures etc.. but i guess it's worth the wait as i must say that i'm glad/happy that u lead an interesting, joyful n u retain the AFIFness that i knew when i was in Leeds, a very responsible young lad. BTW, it's also nice having to have read such authentic materials as i'm now doing a course in Media n Comm and one of the core components is Analyzing Language hehehehhe... worry not, your entries are above average, if not excellent..
anyway, i'd better sign off now since i've written so much already. if reading is not your 'cuppa' tea as you had mentioned, writing is juz not my cuppa tea/neslo/'teh-o-ais-limau' for that matter hehehhehe kinda surprised at myself for having typed this long..

best wishes, continue writing, continue taking pictures, send my regards to tokma (hope that she's well), to your mom n dad, to your brothers whom you gave the car models to, to the brother who juz got back from the states, to your sister who's doing the nursing thingy, to your boss who seems to be very helpful and to our friends who r in malaya and/or out of malaya (especially DAYATs) if you bump into them physically or virtually. take care and may u be blessed with good health and all the good things that life can offer..

cheers kiddo

Yes friends, i have finally got around putting up some photos of my recent US & UK trip!! I'm actually on one of those can't sleep spells so I'll try to be quick and just upload the photos. For pics on what i did at Leeds, one of it was meet up with the 'medic girls'. Check out this entry by Yat:

Car Stuff

View all 7 photos...
Yes, yes... I've made the first step into the mad world of car modifying!! Well... it was bound to happen sooner or later. Well, what I did this time was install a set of Eibach Pro-kit Sports spring set. It lowers the car by approximately 30mm, and is progressively wound. The resultant is a more responsive car, steering and acceleration are both improved due to the lower Centre of Gravity of the car now and also due to less weight transfer to the rear axle under acceleration. Cool ey. But the drawback..: The ride is somewhat more 'firm' and the shocks are not very well matched to the new spring rate. Nevertheless, it's still quite comfortable and the ride height is not too low. Good stuff, good stuff!! Weekend is near... can't wait?

Tyre sponsorship deal!!

Quite pleased with myself today cos i managed to secure a slick tyre sponsorship deal with Silverstone motorsports for UTP's Formula SAE/Student race car. Plus they r letting us use their testing fascilities and expertise. Not bad ey...Looks like I'm getting more and more involved with the team. I guess in the line of work that I'm doing one needs a hobby that can keep you motivated and at times sane! Cheers to a good start to the new year!!

dunno how i came across ur blogs.. but nway, thanks for helping the sae-utp teams.. keep helping them~! Tue 5-Sep-2006 14:27

End of year syndrome

Went extra early to work today... couldn't sleep properly last night. But man... was it quiet at the office today. there were only 5 of us left... everyone else was on leave!! On the flip side, I couldn't remember a day where i was more focused on my work! got quite alot done today. And the day just flew by!! I think that was partly due to the over dose of coffee i had in the morning coupled with the inherent sleepyness from waking up so early!! Been contributing quite considerably to this motoring forum i follow. Been writing quite alot on fuels and lubes. It's a good way to consolidate my knowledge on the stuff i already know and the stuff i should already know!! hehehe... I'm just worried i might get too carried away and say out something confidential. Those who've had the experience of recieving my emails can probably attest to my getting carried away writing!! Before i get there I'd better stop... Quite looking forward for tomorrow... it's a weired feeling... maybe i just want the days to go by faster?

Before the 'Italian job'
View all 11 photos...
Here's my take on 'The Itallian Job'. Bored of my silver loptop, I painted it Cherry Red. A few months later i found a use for the leftover paint: Paint my brake callipers!! It was a really tedious - plus there are four callipers, but I was really satisfied with the outcome. It doesn't show well on the photos, i think my camera doesn't show colour very well... maybe it's time for a new camera?
Any of you guys from Leeds coming home this holiday? Make sure you guys gimme a buz kay...

Dyno Training

Dyno training... seems simple and fun enuf... but when it's conducted by Japanese guys that have a proficiency in english about as good as my arabic then you have a potential disaster on your hands. To be honest it wasn't that bad actually. They had one guy that could speak OK english and we managed to find a 'universal' language in drawing diagrams with standard flowchart icons. The training is scheduled for 2 weeks but thank god the practical, hands on bit starts tomorrow!! One good thing: it'll be free breakfast, dinner and tea for the next 2 weeks!! I'll regain all that lost weight in no time!!

Rediscovered all my old FSAE videos on my laptop... gosh i miss all the good times, especially racing in Japan... I'm trying to work something out with UTP so that i can go down there during week days to 'advise' on thier car. Stuff to look forward to i guess... something of a rarity these days...

Thanks for those well wishers. Granny's condition has improved though i do not know the out come of the CAT scan she had yesterday. Busy day tomorrow so laters guys...
